Our Mission Statement.
Wendover Pre-School strives to teach our children ‘In the Moment’ by facilitating child initiated play, using resources that create an enriched, stimulating and inclusive environment.
Nurturing self-belief.
Valuing children’s interests, opinions and ideas builds self-esteem and confidence in their play. Children are given support and time to practice, reflect and learn from their activities.
Instead of labelling outcomes as “failures”, we use these as learning opportunities for the children to adapt their approach and way of thinking to tackle challenges.
Encouraging a culture of listening.
Children are encouraged to develop a positive attitude not only toward themselves but also to others. This is achieved by observing what others say and do and learning to understand the viewpoint of the other person.
When children respect the experience of others, this creates a shared dialogue where all parties learn from one another.
Promoting positive relationships.
Family values and traditions are pillars of healthy relationships. We help them foster a sense of respect for other people’s property, beliefs and ideas irrespective of gender, race disability or academic achievement.
We value open communication with parents and carers who are invited to work in partnership with us in helping their children develop their enthusiasm for learning. We believe in celebrating the children’s achievements which is facilitated by a Tapestry Learning Journal. This provides the nursery staff, parents and carers a platform to regularly and immediately share special moments both at the nursery and at home.
